Christmas 2025

Christmas Shutdown

The Practice will close at 12 noon on Christmas Eve and open again on Friday 2nd January, to give all our staff and clinicians a well-earned rest! Our ‘Out-of-hours’ supplier 24/7 Dentistry, will be available throughout the time we are closed, and have clinics in Southampton and Poole. If you have a dental emergency during the Christmas period, please call 03301 759 995. (This number will also be on our answer machine). Plan patients can re-claim some costs through their Borough Plan Emergency Insurance.

The Borough Dental Practice is Recruiting!

In the Spring, Liv (Jenny and Luke’s daughter and our trainee dental nurse) is moving on from The Borough Dental Practice as she pursues a career in church work. Tash is also excitingly expecting her 2nd child, and so the Practice will therefore be recruiting more nursing staff.

We are ideally looking for a qualified dental nurse, so if any patients know of a current dental nurse who may be interested in joining the team, please do direct them to the job link here

However, we are also open to supporting someone looking for a new career! We have trained a number of dental nurses, sponsoring study time and course costs, graduating with a Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing.

Jordan Riley, one of our valued dental nurses, started with us as a Trainee Dental Nurse in March 2021. She says:-

I was previously working in hospital in general nursing. I was first attracted by the more sociable hours (with no evening or weekend work!), but quickly came to appreciate working in a smaller, friendly and stable team and enjoy the varied work in surgery and reception. The team were so supportive throughout  my training, with working hours set aside for studying and course-work and help if I ever needed it. I also appreciated doing an online course rather than having to physically go into College. I’m so pleased with the career change I made and really enjoy Dental Nursing and working at The Borough Practice.”

If you are interested in exploring becoming a Dental Nurse with our Practice, please email our Practice Manager, Laura Chatwin, to laura@nulltheboroughdentalpractice.co.uk

Richard Retirement honoured Nepalese Style!

Masterminded by our Head Dental Nurse, Arpana, the Borough Team gave Richard Stephenson a unique surprise send-off at his Staff Retirement Party, performing a traditional Nepalese dance!

Having surreptitiously been practicing for weeks at lunchtimes and after work, the Practice ladies performed a dance called ‘Darpan Chhaya’ which, amongst other things recognises the lasting impact of love and friendship amidst loss – appropriate as Richard leaves the Practice to enjoy a well-deserved retirement. There was also a bonus dance appearance from special guest, Charlie Killick!

Richard works his last morning on Christmas Eve and there is a Retirement Book on reception should any patients like to call in to put a message for his book before then. Alternatively, email Reception!

Becky is starting on 5th January!

Richard’s successor, Becky Jones, who will be taking on Richard’s patient list, is excited about joining the Practice and starts work on the 5th January!  Read more about Becky here!

Price Review

As of 1st January, our prices will increase by, on average, 3.8% in line with UK inflation over the last 12 months.

Every year, we benchmark our prices against ten other comparable private dental practices in the region to ensure we are offering excellent value.

Musana Pop-Up Shop!

The annual Musana Pop-up Shop is available at reception until 12 on Christmas Eve, selling hand-made bags, jewelry and other items – all made in one of Musana’s Women’s Empowerment Centres in Uganda. More info can be found at www.musana.org

We would like to wish all our patients and their families a very Merry Christmas and every blessing for 2026!

With best wishes,

Jenny
